Job Title: Clinical Engineering Technician
Location: SeatTech, Enable Ireland, Sandymount
Reporting to: SeatTech Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor
Overall Purpose of the Post:
To support the SeatTech team in ensuring the smooth running of all manufacturing operations at SeatTech.
Essential Criteria – NB: ALL essential criteria must be met in order to qualify for interview
- Apprenticeship of Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification to minimum NFQ Level 6 (In order to qualify for interview, official, written evidence of this must accompany the application).
- Eligibility to be registered as ‘Engineering Technician’ with Engineers Ireland (In order to qualify for interview, official, written evidence of this must accompany the application).
- Manufacturing workshop training and experience to include experience using, and undertaking planned preventative maintenance on, machine tools and handheld power tools
- Demonstrable technical competence – A hands-on practical will form part of the assessment process
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Flexibility and willingness to take a hands on role in completion of technical work
- Understanding of line management structure and willingness to adhere to same
- Understanding of and willingness to adhere to organisational policies and procedures
- Demonstrated commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Proven track record in problem solving
- Full, clean driving licence
DUTIES
This person will exercise clear technical judgement in contributing to day-to-day stock management, design, development & manufacturing of products & services.
Stock Control
The Clinical Engineering Technician will carry primary responsibility for management of all stock levels, under the supervision of the SeatTech Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor.
Health & Safety
Take a lead role, in conjunction with the Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor, in ensuring a safe work environment for all staff.
Research & Design
Research & Design is key to SeatTech’s stated mission of providing service users with the ‘best possible’ seating, mobility and positioning aids. It is expected therefore that the Engineering Technician will support and play an active role in research & design projects and report jointly with technical team on research project findings.
Manufacturing
Manufacture SeatTech devices and components under the direction and supervision of Senior Clinical Engineering Technicians, Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor, or Clinical Engineer, as appropriate.
Other Duties
- Undertake general maintenance within the SeatTech building, as requested by management, e.g. mounting fixtures on walls, minor repairs etc.
- To assist the Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor in other duties to ensure effective operation and development of the service as required.
Professional Formation
All SeatTech staff members are expected to keep abreast of developments in the field, and to upskill through on-the-job training and external training courses.
Responsible to: SeatTech Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor.
Probation: A six-month period of probation applies to this post.
Salary: Salary paid in alignment with Clinical Engineering Technician scale of the Health Sector Consolidated Salary Scales 2016 as follows: €28,860 – €38,456.
Hours: 39 hours per week.
Annual leave: 30 days
Pension Scheme: Enable Ireland operates a contributory pension scheme which all members of staff may join on earlier of 1st July or 1st January following start date.
Medical: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical.
