AIT have launched new programmes addressing national skill shortages. These are delivered in a flexible manner with 50% online and only 2 days per week on-campus.

The programmes are targeted to address identified skill shortages. Learners may be working, part working or seeking employment and will attend AIT for only 2 days per week. Up to 50% of classes & tutorials may be taken from home (online). AIT is offering 11 part-time, industry-focused programmes ranging from certificates through to postgraduate degrees. The courses will commence this September and are designed to facilitate employers and employees seeking to upskill. The mix of learning delivery methods is unique to these programmes.

The programmes have been identified by external experts to meet current National Skills Shortages. The programmes include Construction Management to honours degree (one year); Project Management (L7) one year; Postgraduate (L9) one year in Green Engineering; a Masters (MEng-L9) 15 months in Energy, Communications Infrastructure and 5 specifically targeted CPDs in areas of severe skill shortages.

AIT has a long‐standing record in providing civil, construction, polymer, mechanical, electronic & software engineering programmes. Its specialised orbital welding programme is targeted specifically at advanced industries e.g. (ICT and pharmaceutical). AIT’s applied training and research capacity is highly regarded by industry. The institute boasts one of the finest engineering facilities in the country.

The School of Engineering is offering free Springboard courses for this coming September, which will give job seekers an opportunity to upskill in areas of economic growth with good employment prospects.

The courses are offered on a part-time basis and lead to a range of awards from Certificate to Postgraduate levels.

Job Description:

Vizor is looking to employ a graduate who has achieved a 2.1 or higher in their degree (or masters) from a reputable university to carry out a combined role of project and new product development. Day to day tasks will include the development of Vizor’s core products, client facing project work, support of existing clients and technical design and documentation.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidates will have the following skills:

  • Studied & applied object-oriented analysis and design methodologies.
  • Proficient in one or more object-oriented programming languages, preferably a .Net language.
  • Proven ability to write code – successfully completing projects in college or in the workplace.
  • General knowledge of software development applications (debugging code etc.) and be confident working with other people’s code.
  • Familiar with applying coding standards to development work such as comments/naming conventions etc.
  • Comfortable in working both in a team and individually and having to meet tight deadlines.

Technical Skills:

  • Object-oriented programming language, preferably a .Net language.
  • Database/SQL knowledge (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Web development (e.g. using ASP.Net, HTML, Javascript).
